About Matt
Matt is a counsellor and clinical educator with over seven years of experience supporting adults and adolescents across community and outpatient mental health settings. He works collaboratively and directly, creating a therapeutic space that feels grounded, supportive, and real. Matt’s approach is shaped by authenticity — meeting clients where they are, walking alongside them, and helping them build insight and momentum at their own pace.
As a queer, male-identifying counsellor with lived experience of neurodivergence, chronic illness, and mental health challenges, Matt brings empathy and depth to his work. He is passionate about making therapy accessible and meaningful, particularly for those who have felt misunderstood or excluded in traditional therapeutic spaces. His practice centres on creating connection and fostering resilience through open, honest conversation.
Matt draws on a range of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Therapy (CT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure Therapy, Trauma Stabilisation and Psychoeducation, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Transactional Analysis. His goal is to support clients in developing practical strategies, self-understanding, and confidence to navigate life’s challenges with clarity and compassion.
